Çini ceramics are like a flower that blooms in fire. Their buds remain ever fresh, warming you during cold and dark seasons and cooling your soul with whispers of ancient times on hot days.
It all began over 100 years ago in the Turkish city of Kütahya, a place known for its unique clay, perfect for crafting Çini ceramics. Çini is traditional Turkish pottery, hand-decorated with Ottoman motifs and special colors.
In the 20th century, Great-Grandfather Ahmet founded this factory, which became renowned worldwide. Its products are found in private collections, world museums, and even adorn the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, other royal palaces, and some of Turkey’s most famous cultural landmarks, such as the tomb of the Ukrainian Roxelana, the tile decorations of Sultan Mehmed Reshad’s mausoleum, and the Harem.
Today, a family museum in this city tells the story of the factory’s founding. The ceramics from this very factory have earned international accolades and adorn private collections around the world.

In 2016, Alona continued her family’s legacy, but in a different direction, preserving the patterns and transferring them onto fabric with the help of traditional Ukrainian hand embroidery. Her passion for fashion and desire to blend Western and Eastern cultures led her to pursue studies at the international fashion academy, Collège LaSalle.
During her studies, she actively sketched designs, developed patterns, and embroidered them by hand onto fabrics, laying the foundation for the future Alona Çini brand. Alona also deeply values Ukrainian craftsmanship and strives to revive ancient hand embroidery techniques by collaborating with artisans from all over Ukraine.
In this way, her brand serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures, preserving and revitalizing the traditions of both countries
Ethical and Sustainable
The mission and goal of the ALONA ÇINI brand is to preserve ancient handcrafts, traditions, and craftsmanship, while creating items that hold ethical and environmental value. The brand uses only natural, eco-friendly fabrics to craft products that can become heirlooms, passed down from grandmother to mother, and from mother to daughter.
ALONA ÇINI is a designer company rooted in the principles of slow fashion, honoring traditions. Our story is linked to understanding the importance of passing down and preserving traditional crafts through generations, which is now almost a lost art. At the start of the brand’s journey, Alona visited Ukrainian villages and towns in search of master embroiderers to learn their secrets and involve them in creating our unique designs. This helps us preserve the craft and pass it on to younger generations.
‘Recognizing the value of ancestral heritage and the responsibility to preserve it, I create products that are exceptionally high quality and unique. Handcrafting is like painting a picture — it can never be exactly replicated. The same goes for our dresses; each piece is one-of-a-kind and incomparable.’
